Family Engagement Manager

The Family Voices of California (FVCA) Family Engagement Manager will assist FVCA to enhance the ongoing coordination, education, and activation of family and agency advocates for California families of children and youth with special health care needs (CYSHCN). The Family Engagement Manager will research, identify, and disseminate information about health policy issues affecting CYSHCN, and organize families around these issues.


  •  Educating, coordinating, and activating family advocates, and identifying and linking them to involvement opportunities that allow them to effectively address healthncare issues for CYSHCN.
  • Administrative and project management including developing and implementing evaluation strategies and collecting, evaluating, and maintaining data;
  • creating and coordinating events;
  • developing and disseminating materials;
  • representing the organization with decisionmakers, stakeholder groups, and on board and committees;
  • strategic program planning and development;
  • projectimplementation and management; and regular documenting and reporting on activities and outcomes.
  • The Family Engagement Manager will be an experienced project manager with knowledge of public policy and health care issues related to CYSHCN.
  • A minimum of 2-4years experience with program development and implementation, event coordination, presentationdevelopment and public speaking, and management level reporting is needed.
  • Experience with email marketing services, web site maintenance, social media management applications, and database management a plus. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, be detail oriented
  • able to work as an independent self-starter and a collaborative team member. 
  • Ability and experience working with staff and clients of varying cultures and backgrounds is required.
  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish-speaking individuals who have experience with families of children with disabilities and the resources that serve them are strongly encouraged to apply.

FVCA is a collaborative of locally-based parent-run centers working to ensure quality health care for CYSHCN throughout California. FVCA is the California chapter of Family Voices, a national organization working to improve health care for CYSHCN. Project Leadership is a statewide parent advocacy training program whose overall goal is to increase the number of family members of CYSHCN who are prepared and supported to become advocates for health care policy and service improvements. The program is funded through a grant from the Lucile Packard Foundation for Children’s Health.
